Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
